Belief and Neuroscience

Kim Snodgrass One-minute read.   Resources

A fresh perspective on following Jesus is waiting to be discovered on the neurotheogy.info website.

Research, observation and experience have come together in this project that has been two years in the making. The Reverends Bryan and Elisabeth Spoon (The Diocese of West Missouri) recently presented on the subject of neurotheology during the 2020 Rooted in Jesus conference, exploring the spiritual dimensions of our brain and body, as well as how the fruits of the Spirit produce profound neuro-scientific and physiological change.

Neuroscience is showing that there are no greater treasures than God’s love, joy, and peace coursing through our bodies.  These are treasures we can claim for ourselves and offer to others. This website is full of resources to help you overcome habits keeping you from knowing love.  It will draw you closer to God.  For God is love and we are created in the image of God.

An understanding of neurotheology can effect positive growth in everyday life. Short Fruits of the Spirits videos explore topics such as Love vs Indifference, Joy vs Addition, Peace vs Anxiety, offering an explanation of what happens to our bodies when we allow ourselves to bear the fruit of the Spirit.

Neurotheology.info also provides a variety of supportive resources on topics – from Resiliency to Mindfulness – that explore this subject further.

Kim Snodgrass is Assistant to the Bishop for Christian Formation.
