New Dates for Camp WEMO

Josh Trader One-minute read.   Resources

Due to the uncertainty around summer activities and gatherings, Camp WEMO has been moved to alternate dates with the hope that we will be able to gather together later this summer! We have been in discussion with Dean, Executive Director at YMCA Camp Wakonda, to explore what options are available. The rescheduled dates for Camp include four nights of fun, fellowship, and spirituality, Camp WEMO will be August 14-18. We are aware these dates may interfere with those that attend school in Kansas, participate in band or sports or on their way to college. Since these dates are Friday – Tuesday, there will be an option to attend Friday – Sunday, for those that have school commitments on Monday.

The fee for restructured Camp WEMO is $200, this reflects the costs required to put on camp for each camper (including food, lodging, camp rental, activities, etc.) It is the goal of WEMO Youth to provide inspiring, empowering, and educational opportunities for youth in West Missouri, regardless of financial situation. For that reason, taking our challenging circumstances into account, this year’s event will use a Donation Based pay structure. Each camp participant is asked to pay what their family is able for camp, with a minimum donation of $75. If the $75 minimum fee is a challenge for your family, please reach out to Josh, WEMOYouth@diowestmo.org, to look at diocesan and parish scholarships that may be available. Understanding that it costs $200 per camper to put on camp, families are asked to pay what they are able per camper. If you are able to contribute more towards the cost of other campers’ experience, that would be greatly appreciated. We as a WEMO Youth Community are thankful that we are able to support each other during this time!

Registration for Camp WEMO is open now until July 1st by visiting www.WEMOYouth.com.
