No doubt you’ve heard much in the news recently about COVID-19 (coronavirus) and its continued spread. For the past few months, we have been tracking the evolving COVID-19 situation and monitoring its progress as we evaluate the health and safety of our participants and the volunteer team.
As you know, the health and safety of all involved in our events is our number one priority. In cooperation with youth leaders from around the diocese and Bishop Field, we have made the decision to host all youth events online through July. We are developing plans for “long-distance” offerings, including online Small Groups that will meet throughout the summer, as well as potential new ways to gather in person when we feel it’s safe to do so. The Youth Ministry Commission is hard at work to turn the Junior High Retreat, MissionPalooza, and the Summer Senior High retreat into amazing online offerings. Each event will offer a different digital experience ranging from self-guided activities to group discussions using Zoom.
We are excited to announce a line up of summer digital events at the regional levels. Both of our regional coordinators, Meredith Seaton and Madi Kyger, will be hosting “Bible & Bingo” two times a month during June and July. They will begin with a short bible study and end with playing virtual bingo, with prizes! Zoom Picnics and Zoom Dessert and Discussions are also in works. A detailed summer calendar will be released in the coming week.
Please stay tuned and stay in touch as we share developments through our social media, @WEMOYouth, and mailing list as we evaluate the safety of gathering together for our August events at the beginning of July. In the meantime, we are planning activities that will take us further in our walk with Christ, either physically together or spiritually. We are one body in the spirit. We look forward to spending time with you again in the future and pray for your safety until then.
