Diocesan Conversations with the nominee for Bishop Provisional of West Missouri, Bishop Bruce

Bishop Bruce with Standing Committee President, the Rev. Jonathan Frazier on Zoom 10-14-2021.

Over the past few weeks, Bishop Diane Bruce, nominee to serve as the Bishop Provisional of West Missouri, has participated in several “get-acquainted” online meetings with members of the diocese.

Bishop Bruce joined a September Clericus Meeting via Zoom for an initial conversation with the diocesan clergy. Two open Zoom meetings have been held, with over sixty people being in attendance at each. Both lay and clergy members were well represented. A translator was also present at both meetings to provide a Spanish translation of the events, both meetings were recorded and can be watched here:

A copy of Thursday’s meeting complete with the Spanish translation will be made available online shortly.

“The feedback that I have received has been thoroughly positive.”

There have been several smaller meetings with others covering various subjects. The feedback that I have received has been thoroughly positive. She and three family members also met in person with the Standing Committee members and their spouses for a BBQ potluck supper.

Resolution #1 for the Diocesan Convention on November 6, if adopted, will lead to Bishop Bruce beginning work as our Bishop Provisional on December 1, 2021, for a period of two or three years.

Bishop Bruce currently serves as Bishop Suffragan in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.

The Rev. Jonathan Frazier is President of the Standing Committee and Rector of St. Peter & All Saints, Kansas City.
