On the evening of January 6, 2022, a Welcome and Seating service was held for the Rt. Rev. Diane M. Jardine Bruce at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Kansas City Missouri. The service included a celebration of a new ministry, the handing of the bishop’s crozier, a renewal of baptismal vows, and Holy Eucharist.

The service was to be followed by a reception in the cathedral’s Founders’ Hall. Due to a surge in COVID cases, the reception was canceled.

Bishop Bruce said, “While we thought it best to cancel the reception, given the rise in COVID cases in the area, we did decide to go ahead with the seating. This means I look forward to celebrating with you all in the future. Our current thought is to do regional picnics when the weather is nicer. If you have thoughts or would like to volunteer your church to host a picnic or event, please contact your area dean and we will work on dates that will work for our schedules. I am honored and humbled to be your bishop provisional for these next 2-3 years.”
