The Rev. Rita Kendagor One-minute read.   Resources

The Union of Black Episcopalians chapter in The Diocese of West Missouri is saddened and outraged by the shooting of Ralph Yarl. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones, and stand in solidarity with the community that has been left heartbroken by this senseless act of violence.

As a community of faith, it is our duty to speak out against all forms of racial injustice and violence that disproportionately impact Black individuals. We urge for a comprehensive investigation into this tragedy and call for accountability for those responsible. We will continue to advocate for policies and practices that promote racial equality and justice and work towards a world where Black lives are truly valued and respected.

The Rev. Rita Kendagor is Assistant Rector at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Kansas City, Missouri, and is the chair of the West Missouri Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians.
