On Holy Tuesday, March 30, Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Kansas City, Missouri, hosted an interdenominational service to renew baptismal and ordination vows and to bless holy oils. Representing three dioceses of The Episcopal Church were bishops Cathleen Bascom, Bishop of Kansas; Deon Johnson, Bishop of Missouri; and Martin Field, Bishop of West Missouri. They were joined by Susan Candea, Bishop of ELCA’s Central States Synod.
The Episcopal Churches of West Missouri provide lots of possibilities for reflection and prayer during Holy Week (March 29 – April 3). Below is a list of all the online services being held. Many of our churches also have limited in-person access, some requiring pre-registration, and others hold open-air services. Reach out to a church near you to see what they are offering.
The Area Confirmation service due to take place on Saturday, August 17 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Joplin has been canceled. All the candidates due to be confirmed, reaffirmed, or received have elected to travel to an alternate service, or are waiting for next year’s area confirmation services, hoping that physical distancing and attendance limitations will be relaxed by that time.
