Bishop’s spouse Steve Bruce and clergy spouse Betty Miller hosted a luncheon and Christmas cookie exchange with clergy spouses at the home of Betty and Jerry Miller in Springfield on Saturday, December 17. The luncheon theme was German. Betty made green beans with spaetzle, sweet and sour cabbage, garlic mashed potatoes, and pumpernickel with cucumber spread. Cheryl made Rouladen. Laura Hendricks made an awesome apple cake.
We met and talked about our lives as clergy spouses, shared some stories, had a fun gift ‘exchange’ (there were a few ‘stolen’ gifts as we took turns opening gifts and had the option of ‘stealing’ a prior gift), and then ended with a cookie exchange as each of us brought a favorite cookie.
It was so fun getting together. and I would like to thank Betty for hosting, Cheryl for helping set this up, Laura for encouragement, and Ann Frazier for driving me to Springfield! Laura, Ann, and Cheryl continue to help me plan events for 2023 as members of the Clergy Spouse Planning Committee.
