Youth and Young Adult Ministry Coordinator

Flexible work hours/location
Onsite work is required on Sundays.
Position Summary:
The Youth and Young Adult Ministry Coordinator (YYMC) will play a leadership role in the St. Andrew’s Youth Ministry Program (6th-12th grade, college students) and the Young Adult Ministry Program (22-39yrs) of our open and affirming community. The YYMC will work closely with St. Andrew’s Associate Rector, the Youth Commission, and the Young Adult Commission to create relevant programs and offerings that invite youth and young adults into a deeper relationship with God, one another, and the world.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Relationship:
- Create compelling and relevant vision and programming for youth and young adult ministries, in conjunction with the youth and young adult commissions.
- Establish opportunities for youth and young adults to be incorporated into the life of the parish and to engage in their faith in meaningful ways.
- Collaborate with current and new volunteers in serving our youth and young adults.
Program Management:
- Strategically plan curriculum studies, volunteer opportunities, and fellowship activities for youth and young adults.
- Manage the delivery of all weekly programs and activities.
- Oversee the Acolyte program in conjunction with volunteers.
- Oversee the high school student leadership team.
- Oversee Annual Youth Events which include but not limited to the Youth Christmas Tree Lot, Winter Retreat and Trivia Night.
- Coordinate a volunteer schedule for youth and young adult programming.
- Coordinate and plan the Youth Confirmation Retreat in conjunction with St. Andrew’s clergy.
- Coordinate a volunteer schedule for youth and young adult programming.
- Maintain contact with college students and high school students away at boarding school.
Administration:
- Collaborate with youth and young adult commission members to create a year-long calendar for youth and young adult ministry.
- Maintain consistent, clear, and regular communications with youth, youth families and young adults.
- Maintain youth and young adult Instagram accounts.
- Partner with church staff to include youth and young adult ministry updates in parish-wide communications.
- Manage compliance with “Safe Church, Safe Communities” requirements as required by the Diocese of West Missouri.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong communication skills across a variety of platforms.
- Comfortable working in a Big Tent atmosphere where all are welcome.
- Understanding of the Episcopal tradition of Christianity and strong sense of spiritual well-being.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, punctual, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
