MissionPalooza @Home Day 2 ElderCare

Josh Trader One-minute read.   Resources

Today MissionPalooza @Home is focusing their outreach efforts on eldercare, serving those that live in nursing homes and are homebound. In the past volunteers at MissionPalooza have visited nursing homes in the Kansas City area. While there, volunteers spend time with the residents playing games, crafting, serving food, and visiting through conversations. Since COVID-19 has made it difficult for family and friends to visit their loved ones living in nursing homes, the MissionPalooza Design Team has found a way we can be able to engage with the residents through homemade cards.

You are encouraged to make cards out of items you have around your house. It’s not about how they look, or how many you make, rather the small act of kindness that shows through the cards. The cards you make can be in the style you prefer to make (happy birthday, thank you for your service, thinking of you). You can also reach out to your parish and ask if there are any homebound members that you can send cards too. If you write cards to specific individuals, please send them yourself. Generic ones can be dropped off with the rest of the items you collect and/or make this week.

Join me in the WEMO Youth Community Zoom Room, link at www.WEMOYouth.com, every day this week at 9:30 am and 4 pm to check-in and chat about our experiences.

Watch social media all week for updates and other information about the outreach projects for the week. Please share pictures, videos, and thoughts on social media. Feel free to tag @WEMOYouth and use the hashtags #WEMOYouth #dwmo #MissionPalooza.
