My siblings in Christ,

I was shocked and appalled to hear of the circumstances surrounding the shooting of 16-year-old Ralph Yarl a few days ago. I am heartened to hear that Ralph has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his wounds.

This incident exposes yet again the cycle of violence, fear, and trauma inherent in our culture today. It raises so many questions about justice — or the lack of it — in society. I hope and pray that Ralph Yarl recovers fully from his injuries, both physical and emotional. I also hope and pray that Ralph obtains justice so that we can begin the healing process as a community. Please pray for Ralph, for his family, and for our community.
