Ryan was ordained to the transitional diaconate by Bishop Mariann Budde, ninth bishop of Washington, at Grace Episcopal Church, Washington DC, on March 26. You can see a video of the service here. Ryan will graduate from Virginia Theological Seminary on May 13. Please read on to find out a little bit about Ryan.

The Rev. Ryan Wiksell

I was raised in Northeastern Oklahoma, and moved to the Kansas City area with my family at age 13, where my parents still reside. After high school, a personal call to ministry led me to study music and theology at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri.

Doors then opened for me to serve in various local churches, where I held positions in music leadership, arts and communications. Christina and I were married in 2003, and shortly thereafter we pursued a joint call to plant a grassroots independent church called The Front Porch in downtown Springfield. After this effort drew to a close in 2011, we sought out a new spiritual family, which we found in Christ Episcopal Church in Springfield.

Today, we are blessed to be the parents of twin five-year-olds’ Asher and Anya. We are currently residing in Alexandria, Virginia, while I complete my Master of Divinity at Virginia Theological Seminary.

We are all thrilled to be returning to The Diocese of West Missouri shortly, and to be joining the Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral community starting in June.
