We are pleased to introduce Jamillah Duckett, who recently joined the Bishop’s Staff in the half-time position of Events Coordinator. Jamillah will be responsible for the logistics (registration, venue bookings, and contracts, organize refreshments and meals, etc.) for diocesan-wide events, and other events of interest to a wider diocesan church audience.
Jamillah considers herself fortunate to have been working in an industry that she absolutely loves for over 20+ years. Her 20-year hotel career includes 12 years as a Convention Services Manager where she planned meetings of all sizes. She spent seven years in sales as an Account Director, where she acquired accounts and booked groups for a hotel.
Jamillah achieved her CMP designation (Certified Meeting Professional) in 2009 and continues to hone her skills by attending industry-specific educational seminars.
At home she’s the consummate nurturer with a quirky personality. She can be found attempting the latest dance moves with her children or reading a good book. Her favorite pastimes include laughing with her girlfriends until she’s crying, relaxed weekends with her husband, Quentin, girl-chat with her daughter Aaliyah, and all the snuggles and kisses that she can get from her youngest child, her son, “Lil’-Q”.
Each year in the Fall and Winter, you will find Jamillah kicking and screaming (or sometimes crying) at the TV (or in the stands), for her beloved Kansas City Chiefs or listening to her favorite artist of all time, PRINCE (RIH). Jamillah lives in Kansas City, Missouri, and attends Macedonia Baptist Church. She is an active volunteer for Giving Hope, and Help and Healing Pathway. Her family motto is “Dear Lord, please bless me so that I can be a blessing to others.”
When she’s not working in her diocesan events coordinator role, Jamillah provides contract procurement, consulting, and event management services as an Independent Contractor.
Jamillah is delighted and honored to join the Bishop’s Staff at The Diocese of West Missouri and is looking forward to learning, growing, and being a “light.”
