Michael Curry is the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, the first African American to hold the position. As Presiding Bishop, Curry has been a prominent voice on social justice issues, and has advocated for marriage equality and immigration reform.

After feeling slightly under the weather for a few days, Bishop Bruce tested positive for COVID-19 today, Friday, February 10, 2023. As a result, she is unable to travel to California next week as planned. This trip has been rescheduled to the week of March 19, which will require some “reworking” of her schedule.
On January 18, 2023, Bishop Diane wrote a letter to clergy to ensure The Diocese of West Missouri continues following the Constitution and Canons regarding clergy over 72.

On Saturday, January 14, the diocese held its first annual service in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Kansas City. The recording of the service includes a 1967 interview with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., made 11 months before he was assassinated, and an extract from a sermon he delivered at the Washington National Cathedral.

Four-minute read. In an email sent out late December Bishop Diane and Fr. Isaac Petty outlined some of the work already undertaken on developing a new budgeting process and they provided advance notice of a request for input.
In an effort to comply with the Constitution and Canons of The Episcopal Church, Bishop Bruce is instructing all churches to complete audits of their finances annually. In addition, the bishop is instructing all churches to submit a copy of the completed audit by August 1 each year, ahead of the September 1 deadline.
